Gideon Contracting, LLC (Gideon) was Prime Contractor on the Firm Fixed Price standalone design-build contract to design and repair Facility 4710 Armaments Shop and grounds at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The construction work was done in phases because the building and surrounding area are an active armaments facility which remained partially occupied throughout the course of the contract. Gideon inspected, obtained approval and turned over to the customer each portion of the building (and exterior) as it was completed rather than waiting for the entire project to be completed. Early completion of the parking lot early allowed the Government to recapture that area of parking deficiency which eased the concurrent construction and the client’s normal day-to-day use of the facility. Scope included complete demolition and replacement of the facility’s HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mass notification and fire detection/suppression systems. Numerous areas of the facility were demolished and modernized including restrooms, doors, interior/exterior finishes, including heavy civil/horizontal renovations to parking lots, site storm drainage and water retention.

Gideon USA renovated Building (hangar) 270 at Hill Air Force Base as part of a two-phase design-build award. This was a high-profile project in a very large historic hangar facility originally built in the 1940s, with regular visits from high-ranking public and military personnel. It is the new location for the F-35 Paint and Coatings Center of Excellence with three new dedicated paint booths.

In the first phase, Gideon disassembled and removed for storage the paint mixing structures and completed the concrete in Paint Booth 2 while paint production continued in the rest of the facility.  In the second phase, Gideon deconstructed the A-10 sanding booth and removed it for storage and re-assembly, then demolished the two-story production room and completed the concrete demo and replacement for paint booths 3 & 4.  To complete the project, Gideon shifted to demolition and rebuild of the remaining facilities including offices, training rooms, break room, locker rooms and restrooms with substantial electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, and communications work.  Gideon kept the main east and west hangar doors and the main paint booth operable throughout the project.
